“Congratulations on your dissolution,” the judge said to an elated Kim Kardashian, signifying the end of her brief marriage to NBA semi-star Kris Humphries, and closing the book on a divorce process that has gone on for almost a year and a half.
The official decision came this morning, and TMZ.com is reporting that Kris is walking away with nothing, and additionally will have to pay his own attorney fees.
As the celebrity news site previously reported, Kris was asking for $7 million from the reality star, claiming that the highly publicized marriage was merely a ploy to boost ratings for the wedding, which was televised on the E! Channel. He later rescinded the demand.
Last week Kris was a no-show at court, and even appeared surprised when a cameraman alerted him that he was scheduled to be in a Los Angeles courthouse the following morning.
Kim and her attorney, Laura Wasser, did show the Brooklyn Nets forward a small token of mercy, asking the court not to slap Kris with a financial penalty for his absence.
Kim filed for divorce on October 31st, 2011, just 72 days after the multimillion-dollar ceremony, igniting a firestorm of controversy surrounding everything from the marriage itself to the many high priced gifts, which Kim maintains were donated to charity.
Though the judge did say that the dissolution was contingent upon both Kim and Kris signing the official papers, indications were that the divorce is official.
The judgment comes at the perfect time for Kim, who is currently pregnant with boyfriend, Kanye West’s child.
