DESIGNER MAX.TAN makes a return this Spring Summer as he unleashes the spiritual side of fashion through his latest women’s Ready-to-Wear 2014 collection titled GENESIS. Ladies line up as this Spring/Summer is about to get heated.
Taking a step back in time, the basis of Tan’s collection was inspired by humanity as Genesis can be considered the creation of the world. Within this narrative, the genesis of Woman out of Man is what MAX.TAN conveys through his distinctively feminine womenswear range.
His campaign features a monochromatic colour scheme defined by mysterious shadows. A sophisticated yet playful vibe is created through the craftsmanship of designs. Class is asserted by the adorning of a black broad felt hat. Direction is mastered by the natural flow of material.
This season expect to see high conservative necklines mixed in with layering of all sorts. MAX.TAN demonstrates the importance of a base to create an overall hands-free polished look. We are talking unique handkerchief pleated tops paired with classic black harem pants and a chunky wooden wedge.
Hands down MAX.TAN Spring Summer 2014 is my favourite collection to date. Mostly, due to his experiementation with sleeves – cuffed, reconstructed or even batwing.

Make a statement at the upcoming Polo with a collared handkerchief bustier dress. Personally, I am in awe of the seamless transition of black and white which adds depth to the clever design by creating a geometrical illusion.
Ask any experienced stylist and they will tell you balance is essential to create a minimal outfit situation. A sharp collar on the SS14 white cape dress lends a boyish tone but is instantly repelled by the capability of the structured shirtdress. A bold wine coloured lip is recommended to complete the meek look.
